Where have the last ten weeks gone!? I can't believe that ten weeks ago tonight Abbie was born! My maternity leave is winding down and I am officially headed back to work on Tuesday. I'm only working Tuesday - Thursday this week and easing back into it. Ryan got a call from his contractor last week and they anticipate that he will start this week as well. It will be great to get our family into the working routine, but it will be quite the adjustment! And of course I head back to work right when the snow is almost gone and the temps outside are getting nicer... go figure!

Cameron is still loving the role of big brother! His latest thing to be a helper with is putting the covers on Abbie's bottles after I make them and then put them in the fridge. He also still likes to help wash bottles and enjoys holding her more. I've tried letting him help feed her a bottle, but that didn't go so well... he helps burping instead after she's finished. It's just teaching him that is the ONLY time we can pat her on the back and we've had to explain how that isn't hitting!
Other things Cameron has been up to:
* He's been into dinosaurs - not sure exactly where he picked up on that one! He likes to pretend he's a dinosaur as well as talk about how they are "scarding" (scary) to him. We stayed at my parents house a couple weekends ago and when I went to get him out of bed on Saturday morning, he told me he saw a big dinosaur with red shoes on. I absolutely love his imagination!
* He loves playing games on the iPad and watching videos on the YouTube app. His favorites are the Mother Goose Club nursery rhymes and all different renditions of The Wheels on the Bus.
* Still working on potty training! This week he went on the potty four different nights before bedtime after he's taken his bath. YAY! PROGRESS!! He's been obsessed with his Elmo Potty movie and also enjoys putting stickers on his Elmo Potty poster that's hanging in the bathroom after he goes potty. I'm hoping that's whats helping. Thank goodness for Elmo! He also gets candy (usually M&Ms) after he goes, which is another incentive he loves.
* His temper tantrums have been getting a little better, but boy does he struggle with listening... So I've been told by many parents that it takes awhile (if ever...) for this to get better. I'm trying to have as much patience as possible, but... I'm learning different ways to avoid the melt downs, such as giving him a heads up when we're so many minutes away from doing something. For example, letting him know we're eating supper in 3 minutes and after that, the TV is off and he needs to wash his hands and then come sit down at the table. That seems to help a little bit!
* Night terrors and dreams: he's been having more of these lately and I'm not a fan! He'll wake up in the middle of the night, sobbing very loudly (and sometimes shaking), but all while he's still asleep. We rub his back and calm him down. Only once was he actually awake when I went in there. When I asked him what was wrong, he pointed at his bookshelf and told me that it was "scarding" him. When I told him that there was nothing to be scared of, he laid back down and we snuggled for a little while until he fell back asleep.
* Hitting and kicking, unfortunately... We're pretty sure this is a combination of his age as well as still adjusting to not being the center of attention. He has some really good days (like today) and some really bad days (like yesterday). We're working on it, but it can make for some incredibly difficult moments, especially when I'm his main target!
* At night after we put him to bed, he consistently says: "I LOVE you! No scarding!!" I think this must be his way of reassuring himself that there is nothing to be scared of.
* Cameron sayings:
- OK? Ok.
- No scarding
- Mom I listen to you. (when he knows I'm already upset at him and he hasn't been listening...)
- I go in time out. (If that tells you how much he hears this one... he will sometimes put himself into time out!!)
As for little Miss Abbie, she's growing like a weed!:
* At her two month appointment, she was 12 lbs, 4 oz and 23.5 incheas long - 95th percentile for both! The dr. commented on how strong she was for her age. She said that normally at the two month appointment she doesn't put her patients on their tummies, but she did with Abbie and she said she was very strong for her age! The dr. also commented on how impressed she was that Abbie able to put some weight on her two feet when you stand her up. YAY for a strong healthy baby!
* We're working on head control! Her neck is getting stronger and she's able to hold it at a 45 degree angle. We jokingly call her a bobble head doll becasue she's pretty good at still flopping her noggin around :)
* She's been sleeping through the night pretty consistently since 8 weeks. She's had a couple of nights where she'll wake up around 3am for a bottle but then falls back asleep. For the most part, she goes down around 9:30ish and sleeps until 7ish.
* She's quite the cat napper - she doesn't do long naps during the day. But if she's sleeping through the night, I'll take it!! We've also noticed that one of the only ways she'll take a nap is if she's in her swing (she's learning to take after her cousin Anna!)
* Eats 4 to 5 ounces every 2.5 hours.
* Nursing didn't go super well for the two of us, primarily because my milk supply was so high this time, so she had a hard time latching and it was uncomfortable for me. Since she was about 4 weeks, I've strictly been pumping and have been able to keep up my supply for her to be just bottle fed my breastmilk, but also to freeze milk for when I go back to work. I have about 3200 ounces in our freezer (and actually we had to bring about 2/3 of that up to my parents' freezer!).
* She already LOVES attention. If you stop talking to her, she'll squak or "fake cry" until you start talking to her again. She loves to coo and is a super cute smiley girl :)
* Already out of 0-3 month jammies :( She's mostly in 3 month clothes and 3-6 month jammies because she's so long!
* Although I wasn't there to witness it, Ryan said she rolled over from her tummy to her back tonight! Of course when he tried to get her to do it again she wouldn't... I told Ryan I'd have to see it to believe it ;)
I'm more and more getting used to having two kiddos around (and just the fact that we have "kids" - plural!) It's also been a fun adjustment telling people about my "daughter". A new word in my vocabulary that sounds weird to say, but is so fun :) Like I mentioned in my last post, I love this feeling that our family is complete (or so we sure hope that's what God has planned for us :))
